- DQ and I went to Algonac for the fireworks and fair on the 4th. Awesome!
- I have my school work to keep me busy.
- I still have no work at my regular job.
- Studying is getting easier.
- I'm studying human development and discovering just how f*cked up I am.
- It explains a lot about why I am the way I am though.
- It doesn't tell me that only God can fix me. I had to figure that one out on my own.
- I'm trying to hold my breath and just trust.
- Ugh. Its hard.
- I had a long talk with a sponsee.
- I think its amusing that I have a sponsee when I'm so obviously not good at this.
- She was at that meeting with me when I cried. I asked her if she wanted to find someone else and she said no. We need to do this together.
- That made me cry again.
- We're going to meet one night a week for one hour and do the steps beginning with Step One.
- I need some suggestions for what to do.
- What did your sponsor tell you to do?
- What do you tell your sponsees to do?

There is no such thing as "not being good enough at sponsoring someone..." God usually picks the people who will help one another. We must not limit Him.
A good blog, Ann. Thank you. I like the last half-dozen lines especially, they tell a lot about you--and your sponsee! And it is GooooD!
This one is easy, I read through the book with my sponsee, we go through it a bit at a time, I share my experiences with each area of the book; turn statements in the book into questions, and help them to find the promises that I found. Most importantly I pray with them and remind them all the time that prayer is the best answer I have, because it always works.
God does the work, I just share my experience while reading through the book and making suggestions to do what they did in the book.
I bet you're a better sponsor than you think. Your Your sponsee obviously thinks you're good for her.
When I cry in front of a sponsee or anyone I see it as being real and it's O.K. that others know I am fully human.
Your post reminded me a lot of the first woman I ever sponsored - about 20 years ago.
Prayer Girl
I would have sworn I posted on this blog yesterday. And dammmmit, now I forget what gem-like words of wisdom you will no doubt miss.
I'll be more careful in posting comments in the FEWTCHAH!
I think the best kind of sponser is someone who continues to learn right along with the sponsee. They don't tell, they show in time and compassion. I think your perfect for the job. (Hugs)Indigo
I think you are a compassionate person (I can tell by your sweet comments), and I bet you're selling yourself short as a sponsor. Your sponsee is lucky to have you. Helping other people is not always easy. xo
Sponsoring is a great thing. It is like the hand of God rests on each shoulder. I am sure that God's hand is on yours as you work with your sponsee. Share your E, S, and H. The steps as written in the Big Book are the way to work the AA program. In Al-Anon, we do that as well as a few other things for each step. The Joe and Charlie series on the Big Book have some great information on the steps.
breathe and trust.. you got it.
I admire your admission of vulnerability, Ann. It's refreshing to hear someone say that they are lost. So often we put up walls and facades to make people see us for who we really aren't.
You are going to figure it all out one little breath at a time. And I will be following your every word as you write about it.
